The ICT Hub: Outstanding Resources for Free!

I’ve just discovered an excellent set of resources for community and voluntary organisations to use in making the most of ICT. The resources are located at a UK-based website called the ICT Hub.

The site offers a number of publications that can be downloaded free of charge as pdf documents. Alternatively, they may be purchased as booklets at £15 each plus shipping costs. All are specifically aimed at the community and voluntary sector. Although not New Zealand based, my scan of the publications suggests they would be very valuable to New Zealand Tangata Whenua, community and voluntary organisations.

A few of the titles that seem particularly useful include:

  • A Guide to Managing ICT in the Voluntary and Community Sector
  • How to Cost and Fund ICT
  • From Nightmare to Nirvana — an ICT Survival Guide for Trustees
  • Consultation and Campaigning in the Age of Participatory Media
  • How Online Communities can make the Net Work for the Voluntary and Community Sector
  • Charitable Giving and Fundraising in a Digital World
  • ICT Tools to Support Collaborative Working

The publications are attractively presented and very user friendly. I’ve been reading A Guide to Managing ICT in the Voluntary and Community Sector which provides great advice for developing an ICT plan for an organisation.

The website and resources were produced by the ICT Hub, a partnership of a number of organisations including the (British) National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO).
