Using ‘Second Life’ as a Business Tool.
Sometimes what’s good for business isn’t good for a community organisation. But at other times there’s no difference. Arranging and holding meetings is one example where it doesn’t matter what kind of group wants to get together.
david_deacon of the (NZ) Digital Future blog talks about his experiences using Second Life for meetings:
I have come to view Second Life as a really useful business tool .
…At the beginning I was sceptical about the usefulness of Second Life. However my experience using it to meet with people from around the country has changed that. The meeting experience really works!
…As with all of these technologies, it pays to have met kanohi ki te kanohi before starting to meet using online tools. However, this is a cost effective meeting and conferencing mechanism that New Zealand businesses can start to use right now. …
In our digital future we have to be both confident and competent enough to pick up new ideas and new tools to do things a little bit differently.
