TradeMe partners with Plunket
Details are skimpy, but this news popped up on TradeMe’s Site Announcements page on 1 October 2007:
Donate to Plunket
Trade Me has partnered with Plunket to allow members to support young Kiwi children through success fees. By selecting the Plunket option when listing an item, any successful sales will have their success fee rounded up to the nearest dollar with all of the difference going to Plunket. It is the seller’s choice to donate and those who do will be recognised as supporters on their listing.
TradeMe has over 1.4 million registered members. On visiting on 2 October 2007 there were “63,155 people online. 974,960 items for sale”. If say 10% of those items were sold and each passed say 10 cents on to Plunket, that could represent about $10,000 income for Plunket. That’s a tidy sum.
When I look back over my own record of Success Fees from sales over the past few years that rounding up would be much more than 10 cents per sale.
