TradeMe as a fundraiser
The Auckland Cancer Society have teamed up with NZ House and Garden to create a special fundraising auction on TradeMe:
The August issue of NZ House & Garden is devoted to raising awareness and funds for the Cancer Society of New Zealand. Six gifted contributors have given their time and talent to create an exclusive charity campaign, Moments of Tranquility — a very special feature in which each contributor has created a scene reflecting their vision of this tranquil moment.
Every item pictured in these scenes (and more) has been donated and will be auctioned on Trade Me with all proceeds going to the Cancer Society of New Zealand.

TradeMe is an enormously popular site, visited by nearly half a million Kiwis every day. The novelty value of the collaboration with the magazine and the auction on TradeMe generated a lot of publicity too. What an excellent way to spread a message very widely, very cheaply and to raise funds as well.
